02 - 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
03 - 2 slices white bread, crusts removed
04 - ½ cup milk
05 - 1 large egg
06 - 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
07 - 1 tsp German mustard
08 - 1 tsp salt
09 - ½ tsp black pepper
10 - ½ tsp sweet paprika
11 - 2 tbsp butter or oil, for frying

→ 4-Ingredient Onion Gravy

12 - 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
13 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter
14 - 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
15 - 1 ⅔ cups beef or vegetable broth

# How To Make It:

01 - Place bread slices in a small bowl and pour milk over them; soak for 5 minutes, then squeeze out excess milk and crumble the bread.
02 - In a large bowl, mix ground meat, crumbled bread, diced onion, egg, parsley, mustard, salt, pepper, and paprika by hand until just combined; avoid overmixing.
03 - With damp hands, shape the mixture into 8 thick patties.
04 - Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook patties 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through; transfer to plate and keep warm.
05 - Melt butter in the same skillet over medium heat; add sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until soft and golden, about 8 minutes.
06 - Sprinkle flour over onions, stir, and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly browned.
07 - Gradually pour in broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps; simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
08 - Return frikadellen to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and heat through for 2–3 minutes; serve hot with mashed potatoes or rustic bread.
